Message from the Dean

Respected Academic Staff, Administrative Personnel and Students of the Engineering Faculty

The root of Sakarya University Engineering Faculty goes back to the State Engineering and Architectural School of Sakarya founded in 1970. This school was first converted to State Engineering and Architectural Academy of Sakarya and after that functioned as a faculty of Istanbul Technical University in 1982-1992. Finally, having completed its technical and academicals infrastructure it detached from Istanbul Technical University and became the leading faculty of the newly founded Sakarya University.

Our Faculty aims to train engineers researching global technological developments, adapting to their environment, maintaining R&D works effectively and efficiently, aware of societal ethics, and leading in their fields, by providing them with an engineering education in a global sense and with a continually renewing and advancing horizon.

With our Faculty there are 8 undergraduate departments: Foods Engg, Environment Engg, Electrical–Electronics Engg, Industrial Engg, Civil Engg, Mechanical Engg and,  Metallurgical and Material Engg. All departments have day and evening programs, with the exception that Industrial Engg has also a Mixed Education Program.

All undergraduate programs provide in the first year basic science courses such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and in the following year’s basic compulsory and elective engineering courses of the related branch.

Starting  as a pilot project with an understanding of “I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand”  AEEE, Applied Engineering Experience Education, Program of Industrial Engineering enables their students to gain work experience by taking parts in work life and thus to begin their professional life one step ahead. AEEE Program wants their students to acquire the data needed for factory, to analyze and evaluate them, to identify the problems faced at the factory, and to find analytical solutions based on research and proof.

Day and Evening Programs of Electrical–Electronics Engg, Industrial Engg,Civil Engg, Environmental Engg, Mechanical Engg and, Metallurgical and Material Engg Departments of our Faculty are accredited by MÜDEK, which is a member of world-renown Washington Accord. Graduates of these programs are awarded diploma supplement EUR-ACE Label, meaning a European Accreditation.

We are pleased with our graduates, as versatile engineers, being well prepared not only for the next decade but for the rivalry environment of the next century, leading a successful professional career, contributing to the formation of a society of more prosperity and sustainability.
