About MÜDEK
Introduction:
MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs) is a non-governmental organization that carries out accreditation, evaluation, and information activities for engineering programs in various disciplines. It contributes to the improvement of engineering education quality in Turkey.
MÜDEK was established in 2002 by the Engineering Deans Council (MDK), which includes deans from engineering faculties in Turkey and Northern Cyprus. It was created as a platform to evaluate undergraduate engineering programs and establish a common framework for assessment and implementation.
Purpose:
The aim of MÜDEK is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of engineering education in different disciplines through accreditation, evaluation, and information-sharing efforts. It aims to ensure well-educated and qualified engineers who are familiar with the concept of global technological development, contributing to the overall welfare of society.
National Recognition:
As of October 31, 2007, MÜDEK has been officially recognized by the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK). In the general assembly held on November 16, 2007, it was decided that MÜDEK could issue Quality Assurance Certificates for engineering programs.
International Membership and Authorization:
Since November 17, 2006, MÜDEK has been a full member of ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education). On January 21, 2009, ENAEE authorized MÜDEK to issue EUR-ACE labels. Since June 15, 2011, MÜDEK has also been a signatory member of IEA (International Engineering Alliance) under the Washington Accord.
